How Music Matured with Time
Sounds, Music, Tunes, Rock ‘n Roll, Jazz, Rhythm, Harmony- those terms have been tossed around and filed away deep in sub consciousness but easily accessible when you hear a song being played on a radio station, you iPod, or on the television. In time, we have associated music as a means close to necessity from its upbeat tunes to its soulful and touching lyrics, but how did music evolve to what it is today? How did it affect people on different stages of life? And more importantly, what was the difference of music then and now?
Like living creature, various things in life change and mature- probably the only thing that is constant in this life is change. So let us dissect on of the most sought out medium for humans. The first ever known popularized music there is on the proper time table would be the baroque. You could find various complex meanings when you search this one word, but probably all of them would associate and point out that in this period in time (sixteenth century and seventeenth century), arts paved way to the world. Great poverty was also found here and whatever means of entertainment you could get you probably would grab it since it is a very depressing era for those who were unfortunately poorer than a rat. As for the aristocrats of this era, they fancy art, stage plays, and music and bought it to a level wherein people who contain these talents were praised and sought out. You could probably say that music created during this era showed the strains of a bold and dynamic spirit of the composer. The next would probably be between the eighteenth and nineteenth century which would be dubbed as the classical era of music where the term is applied to something that as gained extreme excellence in the past and is still thriving even now. Many musicians in this time found a way to set their songs into gold and the world on fire. With its great beauty in viewing the world and exquisite lyrics, it is little wonder why it became so popular amongst the masses. The last and latest era of music would probably be the 'modern' which started on the twentieth century up to now, but hold the phone, since not all that can be categorized as modern music is what can be currently found behind the glass case of a records store. Yes, it may be modern but not in a sense that it is actually a part of modern music. What you could actually call a modern music are songs that create a more complex and modern tune. A touch of sophistication, if you will. Since we know that like kids, music rapidly changes with time and matures, then it is probably safe to say that in this period various people of various times could really enjoy it, you could even take the classic songs and modernize it only using a different kind instrument. Mostly the genres that are under this period of time are jazz, reggae, rock, country, and rap.
Not surprisingly, you could probably find a topic about love on most songs that can be heard in all the music in time, since it is the most well know topic to pique every listener’s curiosity. But no matter what the era music is, it is still playing a vital role in life and still garners a generous amount of respect from the whole populace.
